As it Was in the Days of Lot

Even the casual bible reader will remember the plight of Abraham’s nephew Lot. Lot was a righteous man living in the detestable cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, the entire population of which was given over to unspeakable sexual immorality. God destroyed these cities even after Abraham pleaded with Him to spare the cities if He could find even 10 righteous persons. He couldn’t. Lot escaped this destruction with the help of two angels sent from God. His two daughters escaped with him although his wife looked back and was turned into a pillar of salt. God did this as an example of what happens to those who live this way. “…turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked.” (2 Peter 2:6-7).

Jesus compared this time of judgment to what it will be like at the time of His second coming. “Likewise, as it was in the days of Lot: They ate they drank, they bought they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even so will it be when the Son of Man is revealed.” (Luke 17:28-30). A recent news article in the Jerusalem Post caught my attention that attests to the fact that we are indeed approaching the time Jesus talked about. “FOUR DAY PRIDE FESTIVAL TO BE HELD AT THE DEAD SEA, LARGEST IN THE HISTORY OF THE MIDDLE EAST”. It claims to be the largest LBGT gathering ever in the middle east taking place around the clock over a four-day period called “Pride Land”. Not only is this upsetting that it is taking place in Israel, but it is taking place near the Dead Sea where Sodom and Gomorrah were located! It seems as though the organizers are intentionally delivering a direct slap in the face to the God of the bible. You can read the article here: Four day pride festival to be held at Dead Sea, largest in Middle East history | The Jerusalem Post .

I hope you’re just as disgusted to read this as I am, but be reassured, it is a blatant sign that we are fast nearing the arrival of our Lord. Come Quickly Lord Jesus!

Maranatha, Jim
